About The Artist

Areej was born and raised in Kuwait, where her formative years were shaped by a rich cultural heritage and a deep appreciation for geometric art. Growing up amidst the intricate patterns of local design and the functional beauty of Sedu—traditional woven geometric textiles used in everyday life—she developed a natural affinity for geometric aesthetics and the interplay of form and function.

Areej attended Virginia Tech University, where she earned both a B.S. and M.S. in Engineering. During her nearly 15-year career at Apple, Areej was influenced by the design-driven mindset that now informs her artistic practice. This period also deepened her appreciation for precision, systems, and the intersection of utility and aesthetics—key themes in her art work.

Areej’s work reflects her desire to merge her technical background with her creative vision. It celebrates the beauty of functional systems—pipes, machines, and mechanical parts—rendered through vibrant, abstract compositions that challenge conventional ideas of utility. Inspired by the Neo-Geo movement, her art acknowledges the duality of systems as both problem-solvers and sources of complexity, urging thoughtful design with a sustainable future in mind.

Areej lives in Miami with her husband, Christian, and their dog, Teddy.
